Musculoskeletal physiotherapy will focus on the biomechanical and structural rehabilitation of the client. With targeted goals to maximise the individual’s functional movement so they can return to normal daily activities. This type of therapy is most commonly used to address road traffic accidents (RTA), workplace injuries and resolving physical impairment due to lifestyle and ageing. Musculoskeletal pain is often caused by an injury to the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments or nerves. This can be caused by jerking movements, car accidents, falls, fractures, sprains, dislocations and direct blows to the muscle.
This can be best treated by treating the cause, which can vary depending on whether you are experiencing bone, muscle, ligament, tendon or joint pain. Treatment is tailored to the individual based on their initial assessment. Exercise plans and advice are routinely given following treatment and the number of treatments will vary depending on the patient’s progress in recovery.
